Season 2 of Torchwood has begun on BBC America. This sci-fi drama is set in Cardiff, Wales and features a cast of characters who are all apparently...bisexual. After some steamy homoromantic kisses in season 1, Captain Jack (John Barrowman) dives into the season opener locking lips with actor James Marsters (a.k.a . Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer). It's a nice replacement if your suffering from reality show overload and writers strike depression.

Torchwood: Season 2 - more man on man action

New Work: "Afterglow"
Afterglow came about after being contacted by "Azi". He expressed an interest in being captured in one of my pastels. While most of the men in my works are fantasy creations, I definitely think Azi has a great look and it was fun to create an illustration around him. Azi's story adds a bit of subtext to the 'afterglow' theme. After being outed to his family by his brother, he was subsequently disowned by his family. Though a traumatic experience rather than a pleasant one, the process of coming out does provide a sense of relief and inner peace. No more hiding and denying who you are and living in fear of exposure.
Afterglow is available from my www.studio1088.com website as:
* Original (pastel on pastel paper - image size 23" x 18.25")
* Gallery Prints (on 28" x 24" - image size 23" x 18.25") signed & numbered limited edition (qty 50).
* Studio Prints (on 19" x 13") signed & numbered limited edition (qty 100).
* Portfolio Prints (on 11" x 8.5") open edition.
During the 'Day of Issue Sale' they are 20% off. Sale ends around midnight Midnight (EST) January 31, 2008. Framing is also available.
Edwards Bows Out, Three Remain
Being in Massachusetts our primary is on Super Tuesday. I haven't decided who I'll vote for. I think at this point any of them will do a much better job then any of the fearmongering, religeous pandering, corporate millionaires on the Republican side. I do find myself leaning toward Obama simply for the fact he offers the biggest sense of change.

On The Drawing Board: Touches of Home
For this pieace, my main source has been my own bedroom. Though, I still find changes to be necessary. That's one of the advantages of art, the ability to improve and alter reality.

Pro Gay Marriage Candidate Kucinich Drops Out
He said he entered the race because the Democratic Party wasn't pushing hard enough to end the Iraq war. As a presidential candidate, he proposed a Department of Peace, backed universal health care and supported gay marriage. He also pushed for the impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney.
"I won't be president, but I can continue to fight for these important issues as the United States congressman representing the community that is first in my heart, Cleveland, Ohio," he said.
Kucinich made an urgent appeal on his Web site this week for congressional campaign contributions as "the only candidate who can't be bought - 'cause he's not for sale."

Boys in Love Special
After all, getting a gay man chocolates with swimsuit season only a few months away is just cruel! And to give you extra incentive not to wait until the last minute (you know who you are), the sale is on from now through the week before Valentine's Day.
Get OUT the Vote!
I would love to get your vote! I have two works up for consideration: "Business Trip" and "Early to Rise".
You can find them in the first row of the Fine Art category, entries 5 and 6. You can only vote for one, so pick your favorite. Despite being open to all sexualities, gay works are under-represented, especially among the award winners. Here's your chance to GAY IT UP!
The candidates are little more interesting than those running for President, and you don't need to leave your house, so Vote!

Heath Ledger - 28, found dead
There was no obvious indication of suicide, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Ledger had committed suicide. He had an appointment for a massage at the residence in the tony neighborhood of SoHo, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said. A housekeeper who went to let him know the massage therapist had arrived and found him unconscious at 3:26 p.m.
Ledger was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in Brokeback Mountain in 2006. He was in the midst of filming The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. The actor recently wrapped filming the Batman Returns sequel titled The Dark Knight, in which he played The Joker. That film is currently in post-production.

Guilty Pleasure Discovery
Sure, go ahead and judge me for succumbing to this 'low-brow' show, but in my defense I blame the writers strike :-)... that's still going on right?
Jerk of the Day: Jeb Corliss
Security members grabbed onto him after he scaled the fence designed to keep people from jumping from their property.
Mr. Corliss wore a disguise and concealed his parachute, and has vowed to now only jump off landmarks and buildings after obtaining permission. So he was well aware his actions were not permitted and that the fence and security personnel were in place, and likely to take any action, to prevent him from engaging in such a stunt. To sue and accuse the security guards of doing something 'wrong', when they were doing their job and he was doing something wrong makes Jeb Corliss just a big jerk.

No Laughing Matter?
This Public Service announcement from the Massachusetts Dept. of Health, is bizarre. It just makes me laugh, and that seems so wrong considering the subject matter...it cracks me up. Is it just me?

Erotic Signature Announces Selections for Book
I am very happy with the news that two of my works have been selected to appear in “The Worlds Greatest Erotic Art of Today Volume 2”. “Business Trip” and “Early to Rise” have each earned a spot in the book. Last year “Lathered Up” and “Franco” were selected for Volume 1.
While I am glad to be included I am a bit disappointed that the grand prize winner and the four category winners did not include anything in the homoerotic or male centric genre. The contest claims to be opened to all sexualities. While a handful of the book winners, such as mine, are gay oriented artwork, last years and this years prize winners have not included anything having any slight gay appeal. I must say this year’s winners hardly even fulfill the ‘erotic’ criteria. A nude does not automatically qualify something as erotic.
They will be having a viewer’s choice award, and perhaps with a little help from you we can change that. I will let you know the details when I have them.

On The Drawing Board: BitterSweet
Now I've said it before, but I did make a resolution to be more prolific with my works, at least try to spend more time at the drawing board. I only did 17 new works last year when in the previous years I've done around 25. I did do several commissions in 2007 and they seem to take more time since I have to consult (and wait) and correspond (and wait) with the client rather than proceed at my sole discretion.
