New Release: "Bondi"

With the sun sparkling off rivulets of seawater streaming down their toned bronzed physiques, the men of Australia's surf lifesaving clubs are practically synonymous with Aussie manhood itself.

The original is available for immediate purchase, but will remain with the Lyman-Eyer gallery through the end of my upcoming show in July.

Limited edition Gallery and Studio prints are available for purchase at the Special First Day Price through Midnight ET tomorrow.

on the drawing board: cheeky

Here's is just a corner of what I am working on.  My inspiration is Australian lifeguards.

It was many years ago when I first encountered a pictorial of the sexy Aussies in a mens workout book or magazine.  I was particularly flustered and enticed by the way they wore their budgie smugglers (a.k.a. Speedos) rolled up into a thong.  I never really gave it much thought as to why they did that, I just enjoyed.

Many years later I learned, they do  that during surf boat races, in order to glide smoothly on the plastic seats.  Surf boats, unlike other competitive rowing boats, do not have seats that move with the rower. Apparently the smooth plastic, the toned bums, and a bit of seawater for lubrication gives them the glide they need.  It works for them, and it works for me.  :-)

The Lutheran Church Embraces the LGBTQ Community

After twenty-five years of deliberation, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Church Council has abolished its anti-gay policies, effective immediately. Following from discussions at the ELCA Churchwide Assembly last summer, the ELCA will now allow people in same-sex relationships to serve as rostered leaders. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) human beings are no longer considered abominations but blessed church members with full standing. Same-sex partners and families can now fully participate in the ELCA Pension Plan.

GOP in the Pocket of Wall Streets Billionaires

Every single Republican is now on record opposing Wall Street reform.
That means every single Republican is on record protecting the big banks instead of the countless Americans who lost jobs, money, houses, or their pensions because of Wall Street's behavior and deregulation.
And with the conservative Supreme Court allowing corporations to donate unlimited wads of cash to federal election campaigns, the GOP is more than happy to do their bidding.
Without finance reform and new and re-newed banking regulations we may never again see the economic stability the US enjoyed from the 1930s-1980s when laws enacted to prevent another Great Depression governed the industry, but were slowly unraveled beginning under the Reagan administration.

New Release: "Rough Riders"

Amidst the rumbling engine and scent of leather the two alpha dogs size each other up. Fully aware of being assessed by the other, there is no lack of confidence beneath the taught denim and hard worked muscles. There will be no backing down. It will take both strength and stamina to determine which will dominate and which will ultimately submit.

Once I had decided on the theme of my upcoming show, Iconic, I immediately knew that I would be doing a piece inspired by the stylized drawings of Tom of Finland. Rough Riders is that piece. The original is available for immediate purchase, but must remain with the Lyman-Eyer gallery through the end of my show this July.

Limited edition Gallery and Studio prints are available for purchase at the Special First Day Price through Midnight ET tomorrow at www.breyette.com

Keep internet Freedom

Last Tuesday, a federal court decided to end the era of the open Internet in America.
Broadband companies can now block you from visiting certain sites, stop you from using great Web applications like Skype, and force independent media makers to pay added tolls or risk not having their content delivered.
They can thumb their noses at Obama's plan to connect tens of millions of Americans on the wrong side of the digital divide.
This decision takes control of the Internet away from its users and hands it to companies like AT&T, Comcast and Verizon. It's that bad.

Tattoo Me

A fan adapted (added the wings) to my piece "Leap of Faith" and got it tattooed on his back, how cool.  Now I can say I really do leave my mark on people  :-)
