New Original and Prints: "Pumpkin Head: The Legend of Creepy Swallows"

Once Autumn came and dusk began to arrive early, men from town would take a late afternoon stroll through the nearby woods. It wasn't, as they often would say, to appreciate the fall colors, the crisp fresh air, or to clear their minds of clutter. In fact what was on their minds was very clear. 

Of course the women of the town were afraid to go into the woods, what with all the wild animals and that frightening tale of the headless horsemen. 

But the men weren't afraid. They knew of another tale. One with a bit more truth to it. In fact, they hoped for an encounter with Pumpkin Head, as he was referred. An anonymous gentlemen, as the story goes, who would don a hollowed out pumpkin for a mask and with great gusto, 'service' the lucky townsmen who wandered the eerie woods.

New Release: "Ghouls Gone Wild"

Each with a devilish grin, they knew it was time to take a bite out of this Hallowe'en party. The vampire had been wanting to sink his teeth into his handsome mummy all night. Time to make a move and see if he could raise the dead. A little tug here, a little unwrapping there, and long before dawn they were both a couple of ghouls gone wild. After all, getting undressed for Hallowe'en can sometimes be more fun than getting dressed up for it!

New Release(s): "Out In the Open"

He feels a bit exposed out among the elements, but those elements are his connection to nature, something we are all a part of. Why should he care so much if others might see? That's no way to live! Letting go of those trivial concerns he is overcome with a tremendous sense of freedom. And he realizes, things are so much better out in the open.

Out in the Open is the final piece in my upcoming show, Seasons of Love. I'll be delivering it to the gallery this Friday in time for the reception.

Special Print Variant

I originally had a swimsuit on the front figure, but decided that if I'm talking about being out in the open I might as well put it all out there. But before changing the original, I decided I would offer a very limited edition Studio print of Out In the Open (swimsuit variant), also at the Special First Day Price through Midnight ET tomorrow.

This work marks the second time I'm releasing a "variant" limited edition print. The original depicts a nude male couple taking a shower outdoors, while the variant has the figure in front in a swimsuit.

The first time I did a variant, the work was Leap of Faith, featuring a speedo-clad cliff diver. The variant limited edition print depicted the subject nude.

New Release: "Dobrý Den"

Ever since Petr was a young boy he'd had a habit... no, a compulsion... to peer outside his window first thing upon waking. At first he passed it off as simply being curious what Mother Nature had in store for him, so he could plan his day accordingly. But as he grew older it became impossible to deny a need to establish a connection with the outside world, as if something... or someone... was simply awaiting his discovery.

Now peering out at the simple little stone street below and across the terracotta colored rooftops, his gaze immediately goes to his neighbor's window. And once again his compulsion has paid off, as it has all summer long. Standing there was a so-far unnamed, raven haired beauty, naked save for a towel. Was he oblivious to Petr's eyes upon him, or was he being an enticing tease? Either way, Mother Nature had greeted Petr with a good morning, or as he would say in his native tongue, dobrý den!

My latest work, Dobrý Den, was inspired by a photo I took while on vacation last year in Prague. The charming little buildings on the street started me wondering, who lives here, what might it be like to live in this place. Of course my mind gave it a sexy little slant!

Immersed in the calm serenity of an oasis, the cool clear water like silk upon the skin, the air is fresh and alive and within you you feel an inner peace and joy. The bounty of nature provides all the nutrients for the body and tranquility rejuvenates the mind. You've found your fountain of youth.

He had already caught the new guy in the unit staring at him a half dozen times, a gaze that always ended in a bashful smile. While the interest was mutual, their duties never coincided. Until he finally managed to pull a routine cargo detail through a little underhanded wheeling and dealing, and a bit of mischief. Heck, all's fair in love and war.

New Release: "Sexually Implicit" Series of 4 Works.

All your senses become engaged and your mind overwhelmed trying to take in and process all the sensations, to the point where the outside world falls into the distance.  You're consumed by one thing and nothing else really matters. 

To accentuate that single minded focus that is a part of sex, I did close ups on the figures, limiting the background and any extraneous elements.  I also got to deal with the issue of being explicit.

Censorship and obscenity are tricky things. How does one put black and white boundaries on something that is a subjective gray area. With my artwork I've encountered many different definitions and restrictions. Commonly the terms 'no nudity' or 'sexually explicit' are used. Some even specifically define 'what is nudity'.  They narrow it down to displaying the genitals, the anus or the female areola. But why do we crop, blur and block those bits when we all know what's being hidden anyway?

I decided to stay within those boundaries while perhaps making those who set those rules as uncomfortable as possible. Sure, some may still argue that they are 'sexually explicit' because they are 'obviously having sex'. But are they? Or is that merely the viewer coming to that conclusion, filling in what is unseen with their own minds? After all explicit means leaving nothing merely implied.

Each work is available separately as a Studio Print (13" x 19"), which is the full size (12" x 18") of these originals.  Also the Series of 4 is printed together one large 24" x 35" Gallery Print.

Each original is $2500 framed through the Lyman-Eyer gallery. Or buy all four at a special price. The Sexually Implicit Series will be part of my "Seasons of Love" exhibit in August, and if purchased must remain with the gallery until the end of the show.

New Release: The Bridge

 

Throughout our lives, when faced with turbulent waters, most of us will follow the rocky shore until we find that bridge that gets us to a better place on the other side. So it's a sad and strange irony that in moments of hopelessness there are some who don't seek a metaphorical bridge to get them over the rough seas, but rather a physical one to leap from, as a means of giving up.

The Bridge is my latest work and will be a part of my upcoming show Seasons of Love in Provincetown, MA at the Lyman-Eyer Gallery. While the original is available for purchase, it cannot be delivered until after my show ends August 31st.

Newest Work: "Oopsy Daisy"

There's nothing like frolicking around on a summer day... a fresh breeze, the warm sun on your skin, grass between your toes. It's important to take time to enjoy nature's wonder, whether it be a simple flower or each other. After all, we are all examples of nature's wonder too. So in your day to day haste, take a moment to appreciate the nature that presents itself to you. Because if you're not mindful, before you know it... oopsie daisy, it's gone.

Gosh I hope this isn't a sign of spring fever already, it's only the beginning of January!

New Release: "Young Turks"

It's abruptly calming and still, a stark contrast from the frenetic city streets outside. The air hangs heavy with the smells of minerals, the central pool filled to the edge with comforting warm water. The only sounds are the raining down from a distant shower chamber and low muffled male voices murmuring under the domed ceiling. Shafts of light pierce into the steamy sanctum. The men here have left everything behind in the outside world, their worries, obligations, inhibitions, even clothes. It's an ancient tradition shared with the Young Turks.

I recently got back from a trip to Prague and Budepest. And while I hadn't originally planned on visiting the Turkish baths, the experience certainly inspired me.

New Release: "Toymaker"

 

Mickey was different from the other elves in the workshop, he had a little more creative flair. He never was content assembling the same old kids toys day after day, year after year. He had a passion for something else, a dream to make toys of another sort. After all why shouldn't adults have toys of their own to play with?

New Release: "All the Best Parts"

He had gone to medical school not only to learn, but also with the hope of meeting the perfect man. But while he seldom spent an evening alone, no one ever lived up to his ideals. Oliver had great abs but a flat butt. Karl had incredible legs but not the cutest face. Anthony had the most interesting mind but was a bore in the bedroom. Ever the perfectionist, Victor was not about to settle. Instead he would use his talents to create his dream man, using all the best parts.

I always look forward to doing my Halloween piece. It's a chance to switch things up a bit and explore different styles and themes. While I didn't go too extreme (so not my thing), All the Best Parts is definitely my most gory work to date.

Art of the Month - September: "Max"

As with numerous other species, are human males the more beautiful of the two sexes? Are men peacocks? Most societies celebrate the aesthetics of the female form over that of the male, so why is it women who wear makeup and perform a myriad of other rituals just to look prettier? If men did the same, would they be considered equally as beautiful? Or perhaps they don't because it simply isn't necessary.

New Release: "A Dog and His Boy"

You might call them the dog days of summer, you know those days when you've run out of energy and the heat makes it too hard to even try to do anything. Just collapsing naked on a bed of hopefully cool sheets is pretty much the only option. And maybe your boy will join you. Yes, nothing better than an afternoon nap for a dog and his boy. 

I was very excited to complete my latest piece. I don't usually get to work with live models, so this was a rare treat. And what made it even more special was that the main subject of the painting is such a close, personal friend.

And the best part is, I only had to pay him in liver treats!

New Release: "Prick"

Even if you now it's coming, you can't help but squirm. You can close your eyes, and squeeze your fists, but you're never quite prepared for it. You still let out a yelp or a gasp. He knows it makes you squirm and jump, but he thinks it's funny...Prick!

Coming out is sorta like bursting a balloon. If you're the one doing it then you already know it's coming and can prepare yourself, though the moment is still a bit tense. For those around you, if they've been paying attention, then they know it's coming too. But prepared or not, when that balloon pops, it still gives you a start.
