On The Drawing Board: Wet Suit

I had to throw on my only suit jacket so I could get a better take on the shapes and folds, and to figure out what you do see and don't see when taking one off. A quick wardrobe change, a click of the camera, and a print out later and I had an image to work from.

I didn't put it on and stand in the shower though. I'll have to improvise that.

1000 Words Update

Here's an update on the 1000 Words Project. I know it's been a slow process and that's mostly been my fault, but now that I have a publisher interested it's starting to come along quickly. I am working with the editor to select the best stories for the book. We have about 15-20 that we feel are best suited for publication. She is making notes on each and I'll be getting in touch with the selected authors soon in order to begin making edits.

She is looking forward to working with you guys just to focus and strengthen your erotic and romantic tales.

Andrew Christian's Obamawear

If the Democratic Convention has inspired you to show your support for Obama, you may want Obama to support you.

Designer Andrew Christian has created a pair of slim-fitting boxer briefs with Obama's face by the crotch and '08 on the butt. They cost $29, and $1 of this will be donated directly to the Democratic senator's presidential campaign. ''I just wanted to do my part, in my own way, to help the Obama campaign,'' Christian says. ''I think he really symbolizes hope for the young generation out there."

On The Drawing Board: Soaked to the Bone

For most of the summer it's been very rainy, with a thunderstorm almost every afternoon. So it worked out well that I was going to be doing this commission of a figure in the rain. It really helped to put me in the mood. However, since I got started on the piece the weather has been very clear and dry. Oh well...perhaps come January I'll do a hot tropical painting to ward off the blizzards.

On The Drawing Board: Aprés Moi Le Déluge

My latest work is a commission. The client really likes my "Rainstorm" piece and wanted something with a similar feel. He also mentioned quite a few of my figures to point me in the direction of the kind of guy he'd like. So -I- am liking how it's turning out so far, I am just waiting to hear back from him.

New Release: "Recruit"

Shaving the head, either voluntarily or as a requirement, has often been used as a way to initiate oneself into a group, to create a collective oneness. Others shave their heads to gain a sense of identity, to stand out from the crowd. For whatever reason, it is almost always a near religious experience, but at the same time very liberating.

Having never before done a piece featuring a guy having his head shaved, I though it would be a fun and interesting challenge. Other aspects, such as the arm tattoo and the punching bag, came toward the end.

To purchase the original, contact the Lyman-Eyer Gallery. Full size limited edition gallery, limited edition studio, and open edition portfolio prints are available for purchase. The Day of Issue sale is on until around Midnight ET August 14, 2008.

I was happy to again be a part of their fundraiser by supplying the imagery for their promotional poster.

The PWA Foundation posted this on their website:

My Other Hobby

For regular visitors to this blog, you know I'm a big music fan as I often post my 'work & playlist top 10'. To satisfy my music obsession and give me a creative outlet of another sort I have spun-off a new blog or more like a 'blogazine' called Hot Music Weekly. It's about the music I like in a faux magazine format, where I get to be the editor, designer (there will be weekly covers) and publisher. I'll post and link news stories, articles on artists, the weekly Hot Chart with a new widget from Amazon that plays snippets of my current playlist and whatever else I feel like! If you like pop/dance music that has an 80's influence, stuff that's a little quirky, and a dash on international flavor, check it out. You might discover some new tunes or learn that your favorite 80's band has new material...who' knows? Or suggest in a post an artist or song that you think I might like. I'm always looking for good new music.

Hot Music Weekly isn't actually new, this is just its latest incarnation. From 1996 to 2001 HMW even had it's own website. Way back in high school when everyone was listening to Journey and AC/DC, I was listening to these great Montreal radio stations that played dance music and something new called 'new wave'. So at the end of 1982 I made a countdown of MY favorite songs of the year, 'cuz most the songs I liked weren't on Billboards Hot 100. Who know that sound would become the definitive music of the 80's? Anyway, bginning the first week in 1983, I started to make it a weekly list and except for one hiatus (I must have convinced myself it was silly nonsense and I should let it go) 25 years later I am still doing it. I guess silly nonsense be damned it's just fun to do!
