Friday was the birthday of Morten Harket, lead singer of the band a-ha. One of my personal favorites. I did a painting of him back in the 80's, titled one of pastels after one of their songs, "Summer Moved On", which the editor adopted for the title of my book.
Yesterday also marked the 25th anniversary of a-ha. On 14 September 1982, Morten's birthday, two joyful young men visited the Harket household to wish him happy birthday, and also welcome him as the new singer in their band.
Harket held the record for the longest single note, for a man, in a song, having held a note for 20.2 seconds in a-ha's 2000 song "Summer Moved On". This overtook the previous record of 18 seconds held by Bill Withers in the song "Lovely Day"
