In the name of "Freedom"?



This week the first steel columns of the Freedom Tower were erected at ground zero in NYC. While this seems like it should be a moment of American pride and triumph it just feels empty. So the question is this: “Is it embarrassing as well as ironic to call this structure the ‘Freedom’ Tower, when the US government’s response to the attack on 9/11 has resulted in an eroding of freedoms (speech, privacy, habeas corpus etc.) in America?
