Uptight House Wives 'Out' and 'Smear' Teacher Who Writes Erotic Fiction

A Pennsylvania English teacher of 25 years is being vilified by Wendy Apple and a few other uptight members of her community after being 'outed' for her side job as a published author...of romance (erotic) fiction.

The teacher uses the pen name Judy Mays, and never mentions her other career to students or faculty let alone hand her books to students to read.  But these repressed 'mothers' who apparently gave birth by emmaculate conception think it's okay to smear someones personal business around their community.

Must teachers now be eunuchs?  How do we jump from someone who writes (or even things about sex to them being a dangerous pedophile?  If that's where your mind goes then you're the one with the perverted thoughts.

After being posted on YouTube for a couple years, yesterday I get a notice saying this video (a little promo I made for my book "On the Drawing Board") is in violation of their community guidelines. Mind you I did not include any explicit erections or overly graphic depictions of genitalia.

First of all, it's artwork, second any hint of genitalia is very very minor.  It's nothing that you would not see on a Greek or Roman statue in any museum.

Thirdly, their use of the term "community guidelines" is particularly annoying, insinuating that people who appreciate and do not fear the human form are not members of "the community".  Why is it the prudes, homophobes, and gymnophobes get to dictate what they feel is acceptable? I find forcing their fears and repressed sexuality onto others to be unacceptable 'community' behavior.

My last bone to pick, is that YouTube allows users to report and log complaints against the videos that get posted but they don't allow you to report the hateful bigoted comments that users post to videos.  I've seen so many hateful homophobic comments using the f****t word posted on YouTube, but apparently they have no issue with that.  Show men kissing, or a butt, or a drawing of a flaccid penis and they're suddenly concerned about upsetting the 'community'.

There is not a whole lot stuff going on, a lot of elements in this piece.  It's basically the figure, the hat, the bed linens and the wall.  So I felt like making the wall much more interesting than a solid painted surface.  I decided on a wood slat wall, well worn, with much of the paint chipped and flaked off.  It strengthens the whole western/cowboy tone.

I certainly enjoy my cowboys.  I find myself wanting to do a cowboy themed piece almost every year. This time I find myself also revisiting a previous work, but in another way.  Many years ago I did a similar piece, not a cowboy but a nude figure sleeping. While I have particular themes I go back to time and again, I generally don't repeat a pose and activity, virtually the same scene, that I've done before.  But it's been a long time, and though it's a similar pose, it's a slightly different angle and it's a cowboy! 

New Release: Love & War

He had already caught the new guy in the unit staring at him a half dozen times, a gaze that always ended in a bashful smile. While the interest was mutual, their duties never coincided. Until he finally managed to pull a routine cargo detail through a little underhanded wheeling and dealing, and a bit of mischief. Heck, all's fair in love and war.

Because I don't recreate the exact scene I am painting in real life to use as a guide, much of what I do is guess work and extrapolation.  I know the basic principles of light, color, shadow, reflection so I try my best to apply that as I need it.  It' may not be 100% correct but as long as it looks about right I'm happy with that.  I can always use the excuse that their is another light source or element out of view that is affecting the figures.

Since Don't Ask Don't Tell was rescinded (in writing at least) back in December, it's a topic that I've wanted to revisit in some way.  I did a piece titled "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" a few years ago featuring a solitary soldier gagged with U.S. flag.  This time I am thinking more about the compatibility or incompatibility of love and war.
