While one of my motivations is showing that the male figure is beautiful and deserves equal celebration in art. I am also motivated to present aspects of what it means to be gay. Often the two can mesh together nicely. Illustrating that the loves, lives, desires and emotions of gay men are no different than anyone else can be done while also exalting the beauty of the athletic male form.
Once in a while a subject comes a long that I feel the need to deal with through artistic expression, and it's of a nature that causes me to take a moment to be sure not to over sensualize the figure and detract from the core of the piece. I also strive, no matter the theme, to infuse optimism and hope.
