Target's $150K Donation to Anti-Gay Politician

Target recently made a $150,000 contribution to MN Forward which is an anti-gay political action group running ads in support of gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmers. Emmer is a fiery conservative who lauds Arizona's strict approach to illegal immigration, once advocated chemical castration for sex offenders, and opposes gay marriage. Following the money trail, the Minnesota Independent has also linked Emmer to a Minnesota Christian "punk-rock ministry" that supports the killing of gays and lesbians.

"We rarely endorse all advocated positions of the organizations or candidates we support, and we do not have a political or social agenda," Target Cheief Executive Steinhafel wrote. "As you know, Target has a history of supporting organizations and candidates, on both sides of the aisle, who seek to advance policies aligned with our business objectives, such as job creation and economic growth...Let me be very clear, Target's support of the GLBT community is unwavering, and inclusiveness remains a core value of our company."   Steinhafel has almost exclusively contributed to GOP candidates including outlandish right wing radical Michele "same-sex marriage ban amendment" Bachman.

BestBuy has also made a donation to this same anti-gay political action group.

Oh so if someone will further their business objectives, Target will let the fact slide that they also oppose basic rights like marriage equality and advocate murder of gay people.  Profit before people.  This is why corporations should be banned from campaign contributions.
