New Release: "Deep Blue"

Sometimes when all seems lost, when your last hope has sailed off into the sunset, an unimaginable salvation comes to your rescue from out of the blue, the Deep Blue.

I've done a few fantasy type pieces before, like the butterfly guy in Metamorphosis and the Halloween pieces I do each year, but when I was young, painting fantasy and sci-fi pictures was something I did all the time. While I can't predict the trajectory my art will take in the long term, Deep Blue could definitely be a strong indication for the direction of my upcoming works.

While the original is available for purchase through the Lyman-Eyer Gallery, as part of my solo exhibit in Provincetown later this Summer it cannot be delivered until after the show.

Limited edition Gallery and Studio prints are available directly through BREYETTE.COM at the Special First Day Price through Midnight ET tomorrow.

on the drawing board: deep blue

Showing a little more of the full picture here, now that I've filled in some of the background.

on the drawing board: the studliest catch

While I haven't really begun to work on his fish like attributes, I have gotten his human parts down to my liking.

on the drawing board: fanta-sea

I've had this little itch in the back of my head for sometime.  An itch to explore something a little different, take my art in another direction.  Not 180 degrees, or even 90 degree, but a little nudge.  And I think I may have found a satisfaction to that itch in the form of 'fantasy'. I've done a few fantasy pieces over the years (I'm talking beyond sexual fantasy) and I always have fun doing my annual Halloween paintings, so it's not a big departure.  And I don't expect every piece I do from here on out to be of the fantasy genre.  Even the ones that are will still have a strong gay theme/beautiful men content.
