"Stripped: Uncensored" arrived today!

My complimentary copies of "Stripped: Uncensored" just got dropped off by the UPS guy. As I thumb through this wonderul collection of contemporary gay art I am truly honored to be included among so many talented and well known artists. It's a special thrill to be mentioned on the back cover as one of the 'including:" artists along with a pic of 'Dream of the Dolphin'.
"Stripped: Uncensored" includes the work of more than 50 artists. It's published by Bruno Gmünder and edited by Harvey Redding.
Expected U.S. release is in August, but you can pre-order from Amazon.com!

Collectible Calendars

Skimming around on Amazon the other day, I saw that 2 (third party) sellers were offering my Summer Moved On 2008 Calendar
for sale. I was very surprised by how much they were asking. I guess since the 2008 calendar was published last year and is surely out of print, it's a bit of a collector's item already. Though $54.29 for a used one and $117.51 for a new one is quite amazing.
So I guess I should mention that my 2009 Calendar is out now. I am signing and selling 250 copies through my website at the suggested retail price of $15.95 and about 100 of those are already gone. I think I'll put a few away for safe keeping, might need them for my retirement!

Sneak Peek: Calendar 2009

2009 Calendar
I'm happy to say that it looks like Bruno Gmünder will be doing my 2009 calendar! They are the publishing house that did Summer Moved On last year. They often release a calendar to coincide with the books they put out so they released the Summer Moved On 2008 Calendar. The book and calendar did well enough for them that they are interested in doing another calendar of my work for next year. The content and cover is still being decided. If all goes well they should be out around the beginning of September. I'll keep ya posted ~M.

"Summer Moved On" Promo Video
Since the book came out I've had emails asking what works are included in "Summer Moved On". I also have been wanting to make a promo for the book so I finally figured out how to put together this video, which showcases many of them, but not all. The frontal nudity has been cropped out for posting on YouTube, but the complete works appear in the book. Hope you guys like it. If you have your own blog, feel free to post it.

Package from Germany
Yesterday I received 3 advanced copies of my 2008 calendar from Germany. They look really really good! I especially like the super glossy cover and the background image on the monthly date grids.I will be receiving my 'payment' from the publisher in the form of 250 calendars that I will be signing and selling myself. Those should be arriving in about 2 months. Until then, I have been taking pre-orders (note: the calendar ad in the side bar). To reserve your own signed copies of this years calendar of beautiful physiques, just go to my website, drop it your cart and check out. Easy peasy!
Since I put them on sale a couple weeks ago, nearly 25% of the 250 are already spoken for, so don't delay....

Calendar Boys
I know I know, it's only April and I am bringing up next years calendar. That's because the publishers of my book, Bruno Gmünder Verlag, have proposed a "2008 Summer Moved On" calendar. I am really thrilled and I hope it means they are happy with how things are going. Above are pictured some of the 2007 calendars they produced, Giovanni's "Private Parts", Patrick Fillion's "Hot Chocolate", and Joe Phillips "Boys Will Be Boys".As you may know, I put out 2006 and 2007 calendars of my work myself. I used publish-on-demand printers which allowed me to print up only as many as I was selling. This way I wasn't stuck losing money on calendars that I didn't sell. The drawback was it kept the individual cost of making each one high, and the profit low. I never really thought of them as a big money making venture anyway; they've been more of a promotional tool. Hopefully people hung them up or gave them as gifts introducing my work to more people.
Having Bruno Gmünder behind my calendar will certainly expose it to a broader audience as well as turnover the task and expense of printing and promoting.
Since the calendar will be based on the book it obviously means images in the book will be in the calendar. However I am working with them on the content to include some new works. I also will try to limit the number of works that appeared in the 2 previous calendars. Though (hopefully) the 2008 calendar will reach a lot more people than ever saw the previous ones, I still don't want it to be too repetitive for those that did buy them.

A Huge Package!

They're finally here! My copies of "Summer Moved On" arrived today. They were delivered by tractor trailer. The truck couldn't get down my poorly plowed narrow side street so Mark and I met the driver at the end of the block and loaded them into my car. Ahhh...the glamorous life. The driver said that they could comeback tomorrow with a smaller truck but I wanted them today. I've waited long enough. So we'll be posting instructions and send out an email on how to pay the balance for those who have pre-ordered on the website www.studio1088.com in a day or two. I'll get busy signing and numbering and we'll start shipping them as the orders come in.

Magazine Promo
I just recieved a complementary copy of the latest issue of Männer Aktuell. Inside is a nice layout to promote my book in Europe. "Summer Moved On" was released there in February, and seems to be doing well. It's #5 in the top 10 list of bestselling books on their internet site, www.brunos.de.Männer Aktuel is a German gay mens magazine published by Bruno Gmünder Verlag, my publisher, and brunos.de is their internet store.
I'm gonna be a hit in Germany, just like David Hasselhoff! :-)
