Art of the Month - September: "Max"

As with numerous other species, are human males the more beautiful of the two sexes? Are men peacocks? Most societies celebrate the aesthetics of the female form over that of the male, so why is it women who wear makeup and perform a myriad of other rituals just to look prettier? If men did the same, would they be considered equally as beautiful? Or perhaps they don't because it simply isn't necessary.

The days are short, the air chilled, everything green is buried under several inches of white, and you're feeling gray. This is a northern winter. Are the days of stepping outside, shedding all your clothes and slipping into warm blue water just a faded summer memory? Not at all. Art of the Month: Rainstorm

Rain. We curse and avoid it, either staying indoors or shielding ourselves with umbrellas and coats. But in the right setting, it can be so beautiful: a city street at night, bathed in the silver of falling rain, car lights glowing in the mist, the patter as it hits the sidewalk. If you dare to venture into it, you'll feel each droplet exploding on your body, the rivulets trickling down your torso as your clothing clings fast to your skin.

Being the month notorious for rain, I selected Rainstorm as my art of the month for April.

I did "Santorini" in 2004, inspired by the Olympics in Greece that year. Not only was if fun to showcase the athletic physique but also the natural beauty found in that region of the world. It's certainly high on my 'dream list' of places I'd like to visit someday.

For June I am featuring "Jackson" as my Art of The Month.

My friend Andrea recently bought and moved into a new home. It's a duplex and her neighbor in the other half rents from that side's owner. Apparently Andrea, who is certainly not coy or shy gets quite flustered whenever she encounters her often shirtless neighbor, Caleb. According to her, he is 'GORGEOUS!' and looks exactly like my painting "Jackson", which she has a copy of. I've not yet seen him, so I am very curious and a bit skeptical. Though even straight male friends who've seen him say he is one handsome man. We'll see...

Art of the Month: "Herring Cove"

For May I am featuring "Herring Cove" as my Art of The Month. Since May ends with Memorial Day here in the US, which is the unofficial start of our summer holiday season, heading back to the beach seemed the appropriate choice. For those of you who have been to this seaside destination, you are familiar with the long trek through the hot sandy dunes to reach the isolated, sun kissed oasis for boys in (and often out of) bikinis.
